ReplyDeleteGotta go with God of War. You take an established franchise known for being a hack & slash about taking on godly opponents, and instead make an epic action adventure game about a father with a dark past trying to do right by his son and teach him not to become what Kratos did. This was an attempt to truly innovate a franchise and take risks that could easily have backfired, but were instead met with widespread universal praise and as result ended up as a GOTY contender.
ReplyDeleteNone of the other candidates have innovated in a way that very few titles like God of War have done, so for me the choice is incredibly easy to decide and a game like that absolutely deserves the title of GOTY if you ask me.
