FYI: Not Just Banning Users, I WIll Report Your Google Account!
Spam is a huge issue in this community and Google+ as a whole, I hate having to swift through piles of garbage thats from either a foreign user, spam bot, or a YouTuber (spamming for subs!). I'm banning the user but also taking an extra step to report the entire profiles account. Post content that really contributes to the community!

ReplyDeleteI can absolutely respect you for considering this an issue. I’ve gotten to the point where I continuously report and block spammers because I’m sick of dealing with them. Bots though I’ll go through and report almost every single post they make to ensure Google gets off their ass and actually does something about it.

ReplyDeleteDishoungh White I have to disagree i don't think it's a losing battle the only why you can lose is if you don't do a dam thing about it. If your hoping for google to do it don't hold your breath and even if they did anything i don't know how much it would work and knowing what is spam or not. We need to work as a team and keep this community clean and what is really to be posted or talked about and not spam and if you see spam tell a mod as soon as you can.

Dishoungh White I have been on here for along time And i'm not trying to change your mind just saying it like it really is. " fighting a losing battle here " You say i have to say is not true because it's not over but if you don't try to stop anything you have lost. I know the saying go's you can't lose unless you try but no you can lose. We need to work together to make this what it is.
ReplyDeleteIf you sit back in life or online and say someone should do some then when you have the power to help change it help stop. Are you in a way telling people to give up ? Don't vote cause your person has already lost ? Shit i should stay in bed since my life can't get better.
I'm not asking you to join us and many people won't do a dam thing cause all talk and no bite no do. But some some people will help to make this what the place was made for. If we do nothing we welcome it to be spam we ask people to make it a shit show of stuff that has nothing to do with the community. I don't know you but you sit back keep telling yourself its pointless to do anything to try to make change and i will keep trying to get people to do complete opposite.
Dishoungh White I’ve been here for about 6 years myself if not more and G+ is like a home for me. I’ve met a ton of awesome people here, met my ex gf, have made friends I would otherwise never have, I learn a lot of new things related to video games I otherwise wouldn’t catch, and it’s a great platform to socialize with others of the same like-minded nature, far better than Facebook. Yes the spam has gotten way out of control but you really only lose when you completely stop fighting. Me personally I use the block, report, delete feature like it’s going out of style.

Share, repost, +1, ignore posts, blocked.
If people are getting on your nerves then just block them, weed out all the cancer and it’ll be much more comfortable to not see a ton of garbage on your home feed or notifications.
Dishoungh White I don’t agree with that, that sounds more like discouragement & depression than someone offering helpful advice. There have been times humanity has triumphed in completely hopeful situations because they wouldn’t give up. Remember D-Day? That was a complete massacre and a lot of lives were lost but we still persevered against the Germans and we won the war. What about if your family was in danger and you knew there’s no way to save them, would you still try? If you knew people were invading your homeland and threatened those you care about but you knew you’d likely perish in battle, would you still wage war against them?
ReplyDeleteOf course these are much more extreme examples, but they still follow the same concept that if you don’t at least try you’ll never achieve victory against oppression. Sometimes it is okay to give up if the consequences aren’t too severe, but if you lose more by giving up than what you stand to gain if you succeed, ask yourself if it’s worth losing.
Dishoungh White You make a lot of very valid points and I can’t exactly blame you because too have dealt with depression off and on and it does get to be too much to deal with sometimes. In the end it all depends on how much something matters to you whether you wish to fight a battle or not. If it’s really of no consequence to you then hey you do what you need to comrade. Sometimes we all need a break, no one can fault you for that.

ReplyDeleteDishoungh White Reddit is pretty bad for anything other than information imo. I'd have to say that the best one is Google+, but that's just my opinion. I've never even tried Snapchat, because I have not heard anything good about it.

ReplyDeleteCryingWithRage reporting the profile worked better for me because it ensured the profile would soon be investigated and deleted, yes they keep appearing but anything can help, but for now rule breakers will simply be banned warnings and tags don't work anymore

GT I really don’t recommend Twitter. I read an article where’s there’s like 70% bot activity and some have even impersonated other members using the same pictures but SLIGHTLY different names. I’d rather not be involved with that shit at all personally, but I just thought I’d warn you.

Joona Ahonen Nathaniel Clay I just got through reporting his profile and every single one of his posts as spam. Hopefully it draws enough attention that Google gets off their ass and does something about it.
