Microsoft won. I'm a Nintendo guy for reference. They showed the most varied games. Sony showed the same game about 5 times with different titles and Nintendo gave us a Smash Direct.

ReplyDeleteSony: Overly complicated intro with only a novel payoff, that caused too large a time delay...but had the best exclusive lineup...for my tastes at least.
Nintendo: Huge let down unless you're a Smash fan.
EA: Trash
Ubisoft: Zany, good feels, with good announcements for just about any gamer.
Bethesda: Good games mired in an awkward, self stroking, clap fest of a conference. The cringe was occasionally trying to reach Konami levels this year.

ReplyDeleteObjectively, Microsoft. They showed more games, more exclusives and more world premieres than anyone else. The stops in between the announcements were timed correctly and the Cyberpunk 2077 announcement was awesome.
ReplyDeleteSony's presentation was very slow at the beginning. Although it did have quite a lot of depth and great games (statistically/subjectively speaking), it wasn't the best of this year.
Bethesda's was okay, except they gave their best with two currently irrelevant announcements (the new IP and The Elder Scrolls VI, both of which are scheduled to be released for the next generation of consoles).
Microsoft Did had a better presentation, that's for sure but Sony had the games! Microsoft showed games that are available on every console so it's whatever.

ReplyDeleteOkay I don't know why people think Microsoft Won, for starters they only showed 3 Main Exclusives and the rest 3rd party games coming out on all platforms, (this is coming from someone that has all Systems, so I'm speaking objectively here).
ReplyDeleteAs much I love Halo and that's about it, I don't consider showing the 3 main Exclusives over and over and over again constitutes a Win, these games are getting boring for me and I played all these 3 when they first came out (Halo CE on Xbox Original, Gears of War on Xbox 360 and Forza on Xbox 360), Microsoft needs more IPs to stay fresh.
This is why I see SONY win, for the simple fact that they have Exclusive IPs that are Fresh and New, nothing rehashed or reused, plus the incentive to buy and play their Console.
The presentation was somewhat cringy on Sony's side compared to Microsoft's, that Flute moment is an example, my God I laughed at that moment.

That still doesn't constitute a Win, we could've got Scalebound but nooo, Microsoft had to cancel that game, amoug others as well.
Even though the presentation was Good, it's undeniable that Xbox lacks new IPs like Sony been making, until Microsoft makes more IPs, instead of living off Halo, Gears and Forza, I'll consider them.

Almost all the games they showed weren't even exclusives. Assassin's Creed Odyssey, DMC5, Anthem to know a few... Also on PS4

But they had a bad habit of ditching whatever didn't do amazing. That doesn't even make sense either. They have so much money to throw around, yet the competition is taking far bigger risks... Blinx the Time Sweeper, all of Rare, Fable, Alan Wake, Viva Pinata, Ninja Gaiden... Only a handful of IPs, yet so much potential
