Will Mobile Gaming Ever Have The Quality/Power Of Games Like Consoles, Handhelds and PC's? (Community Poll# 7)
Recently I have been seeing mobile devices improve hardware wise over the past years, most new mobile titles are ok, but not yet as good as regular gaming devices, will it ever be able to meet the quality of the console titles we play? Will it reach the power to show off better quality content? Let me know! #android #smartphones #apple #gaming

  1. I think that if developers start working harder, the mobile games can reach the quality of consoles!

  2. cough Sonic games released for iOs and Android and Angry Birds games cough

  3. Mobile gaming might be better than handhelds, but it will certainly be harder to control

  4. It will.... But then consoles and PC will be far more advanced

  5. No, with all the microteansactions crap, they will never reach the power of PC and console games.

  6. Paul Bauer The will to develop a good game without micro-transactions is not very high for most devs unless it's a port from the PC. You cannot turn much profit from games unless you hit record sales. New technology costs money, but most micro-transaction games aren't games. They're chores. Timer based crap. But if they don't put in micro-transactions, they won't dream of making as much money as say, Clash of Clans etc. So without money to invest in trying to make mobile more powerful, you cannot make mobile more powerful, nothing happens without money.

  7. In graphics it might but not in the display size or with controls.

  8. 10-15 years from now, probably. I don't see it happening anytime soon.

  9. Well the answer to that question is obviously yes. Ever? How long is ever, 5 years, 50?, 100?, im sure in a 100 years you will have build in your clothes nanocomputers that you wont event notice youre wearing.

  10. No it wont. Also i hate ppl who call them selves gamer because they play stupid games on the phone.

  11. The problem with mobiles isn't the graphics, its the control systems
    They just aren't precise enough

  12. It could. Not just with the phone though. You'd need to hook it to a tv and use a controller. Then plug it in to the wall so it doesn't die in two hours. Even if you did all this the phone would probably catch on fire lol.

  13. The iPad Pro is capable of Xbox 360 like graphics.

  14. With things like the w3d...it's slightly possible. Especially streaming directly to your tv. Soon we will be able to stream games that require powerful hardware without the need for the hardware itself and just a screen. It's a matter of syncing the button presses with the stream. (Allowing 0 button delay) so yes...it could be possible.

  15. Paul Bauer But you only pay ONCE. And most aren't willing to pay 30 pounds for an iPhone game.

  16. Derp Fox Its funny because last weeks poll is just what you are saying, hes addressed that

  17. Everybody has to remeber you don't have to have a powerful platform to make great games. Today's phones run circles around awesome systems like the NES,SNES, Genesis, ext and alot of the pc's I grew up with. Those platforms produced some awsome games. Of course these systems produced some stinkers, but bad games are still being made today.

If the game developers put the same effort into the mobile games that they do with games for the major consoles and pc's people would start paying attention and buying those games.

Currently I don't play mobile games except as a time killer. If it's more than a few minutes then I will occasionally use an emulator to play a game I own and cuss at the on-screen controls.

  18. Paul Bauer I think you're missing my point, what I'm saying is that people will not pay as much for iPhone games as PC/Console counterparts. As most game are 5 pounds or less the developer makes less money, unless they hit the top charts for a prolonged period.

  19. I think this is an unintentionally misleading question. Do I believe that smartphones will ever have the power that CURRENT consoles possess? Yes, why not. But I do not think they will ever be able to compete with console gaming because consoles are always improving. They'll always remain a few steps behind in all-out capability.

    ReplyDelete
  20. The Nice Poodle I know but you still have to admit that phones are improving all the time as well. I can connect my phone to my flat screen and play an impressively visual game in HD. Won't be hard to imagine the graphics hitting current console level in a few more years.

  21. Eventually, the new LG g5 already has 4gb of ram so now they only have to make a better CPU.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Nope, as consoles will continue to be more powerful as well, and PC is always going to be the best when it comes to power. However, I do believe that eventually mobile will be ad powerful as modern day consoles

  23. Why can't people understand that it isn't just about the hardware but also about the market share of mobile games? Never, not even in a decade from now, will a developer be willing to spend the amount of time and money they normally would spend for a console and PC game, for a mobile game.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Andrew Markus So what you're saying is that you can see the future? You know exactly what developers are thinking in a decade from now? Not trying to be a smart ass but you have to realize just how presumptuous that statement was.

BTW, you do realize that developers have already made mobile games before, don't you?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Grym Soul I can tell you're absolutely clueless when it comes to marketing and dindn't even get the point.

You don't need to see into the future to realize nobody in their right mind will ever spend as much time and money they would spend for a full AAA title only to sell it for 7 bucks on a mobile phone or make it free with micro-transactions.

Compare the latest NFS titles on console/PC with the latest mobile one for example. Does the mobile one look as good as the AAA one? Does it have as much content?

No, and no. From a full console and PC title, developers usually get hundreds of millions of dollars. For a mobile game they probably make less than a million or two because of the fucking market share. Not only does the price have to be maximum 10 bucks but even then, few people are willing to spend a dime on mobile games, hence why more and more are starting to be free-to-play.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Andrew Markus thats why the mobile market is full of microtransactions and all that bullshit. Devs want money and there aint no other way but microtransactions

    ReplyDelete
  27. Lord Touch Me Of course they want money, and parents aren't willing to spend money to let their kids play so they make it free, hoping to grab you into a never-ending circle of speding money. It's literally like how drug dealers always give you a free sample to hook you up.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Andrew Markus true dat, they need to make money somehow to improve productions

    ReplyDelete
  29. Naruto Uzumaki Consoles are 10 years behind PCs LOL

    ReplyDelete
  30. Lord Touch Me No to "improve productions" for fuck's sake, they need to make a profit, they can't just make a game and literally give it away for free or they'll go bankrupt.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Andrew Markus Do you even hear yourself? No one said mobile gaming can compete with console, so why are you getting defensive about it?

I simply said that developers have and do make mobile games. And yet, somehow that triggered a completely irrelevant response out of you.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Andrew Markus exactly but they make more games

    ReplyDelete
  33. Eventually they will be as good as pcs and consoles today but then consoles and pcs will be better by then.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Naruto Uzumaki I have a gaming PC and I can play games at 4K resolution at 60FPS how many years you think you will have to wait till the PlayStation can achieve that it's going to be more than 10 years from now maybe never

    ReplyDelete
  35. James Smith I have a PC too and even you have to admit that if you're paying upwards of $2000 you better be able to play 60fps in 4k gaming.

How can you compare that to a $350 console?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Phones are getting more powerful sure. It's a much more competitive market with a large majority of the public realizing the power of a smart phone, but how many people need a really powerful GPU (or equivalent) in their phone? I reckon the common person has no need to run 4K at 60 frames on a rendering engine. So will the phone industry catch the quality of the computer industry? I'd say probably not. However, I already play XCOM on my phone and it runs fine so... it may always stay a few years behind.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Phone games should take a different approach to gaming. Like ingress and soon to be pokemon go. Same as handhelds take a different route than consoles. And consoles took a different approach than pc. Phone games should incorporate the lack of actual buttons. Turn based games would work well. Same as rts do. But the main good thing is the augmented reality games due to gps and people almost always have their phones on them

    ReplyDelete
  38. Grym Soul And nobody ever said developers have never made mobile games. I mean are you stupid? Did I ever even remotely imply that? No, but you obviously didn't understand jack shit of the original comment but went on to reply.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Andrew Markus And you obviously have a deep-seated issue if you automatically sprung into an multi-paragraphed rant about something no one even addressed. That in itself is laughable.

Wow, you were quick to edit your original comment. Nice work. Backtracking to fix an error is always wise 😂. You can't even admit to your own misconception. Instead, you edit out the part that made you look like a tool. Good work. But of course, you'll just pretend that you never did. I should remember to screencap posts like yours.

  40. In like 5yrs they will have last gen graphics but they'll never be ahead in any way

  41. Someone's been living under a rock. . .

  42. Supposedly they will next year I read a CNET article about it

    ReplyDelete
  43. Look at Gamelofte games like modern combat those get fairly close

    ReplyDelete
  44. Think about it we never thought that games would go on the PC its only a matter of time for mobile

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think mobile games can have good games in certain genres (MMORPGs, strategy, turn based rpgs, and puzzles) if the devs put the same time into that they would a triple A title. However, I think console and pc will forever be the way to go when playing action-adventure, shooters + FPSs, racing, action RPGs, MMOs, platformers, open world/sandbox, and online PvP titles.....

    ReplyDelete
  46. Once they reach console quality levels, and devs make AAA games that aren't p2w games, it will be good.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Power? Graphics? Probably... But quality? Playability? Hell no

    ReplyDelete
  48. People who voted yes are mobile casuals.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Pepi Ipep I voted yes. Mobile just got FFIX. That is a game w/o any BS. That is a step. Square is helping mobile.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Vedhanth A anyway, they will reach the levels of CURRENT consoles, maybe in 2020, but consoles and even more PCs will be way more powerful by then

    ReplyDelete
  51. alex sim thats what i meant but mobile games are just eww.. right? only few are fun

    ReplyDelete
  52. I say yes...smartphones are are evolved at an alarming rate and eventually they will out perform consoles.... just give it 5 more years

    ReplyDelete
  53. Yeah smart phones are becoming better and better in rhe future they will probably make hand held consoles obsolete.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Fubbert Bombadil
    They kinda already did.
