Do You Think Gaming Handhelds Are Still Needed Devices In The Gaming Atmosphere And Do You See A Future For Them? (Community Poll #4)
I'm asking the fellow gamers of this community about the current state on Handheld devices. Do you see them as needed devices and will there days be numbered? Time will only tell, but hey, I just want to know what you have to say. #gaming #3ds #vita

Idk, I think mobile tablets have ruined the Handheld business. Despite them having shitty business practices, there making more than the Vita and 3DS....just my 2 cents
ReplyDeleteThey are dying out...I mean there is little too nothing that they have to REALLY offer. I'm afraid...they have been _Distinguished_from the console wars
ReplyDeleteEpic dramatic music plays
As phones get better I think they will die off but they certainly aren't 'needed'.
ReplyDeleteeventually they'll stop having purpose as phones get better. i give it until 2019 before they'll totally become obsolete
ReplyDeleteI think they are not needed, but will stay around.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about this recently. My poor 3DS doesn't get touched since I've had an iPad, so I would say no sadly. So many cool original games and console ports on mobile, you can't play San Andress and Xcom in bed with a 3DS!
ReplyDeleteTwo words
ReplyDeleteQuality control
Unless phones have qaulity control on what games get put on the store then there will always be handhelds
Jon Prz Handhelds are losing quality control as well.
ReplyDeleteThey're kinda underrated at the moment since mobile gaming is more mainstream. Give it time and people will see the potential.
ReplyDeleteHassaan Muhammad No, people will not.
ReplyDeleteHassaan Muhammad Handhelds get outdated faster than phones because they are made for gaming only.
ReplyDeleteHandheld will evolve just like the controllers of the consoles and that maybe good change or bad but everything will evolve (pokemon evolving song)
ReplyDeleteMobile gaming is the worst thing mankind has produced. I rather buy 300$ console for portable gaming than play on mobile.
ReplyDeleteVoid of Space and Time they will or they won't. All I know is that for right now they're not getting alot of good marketing. Especially Playstations portable devices. Sure phones were made to do alot more than just gaming but the same thing can be said with consoles and PC. Consoles get outdated more than PC, and PC's can do alot more and better things than Consoles when it comes to gaming. But Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft still make alot of money off of gaming consoles thanks to marketing and exclusives. That might die out in the future but who knows. For now, if they focus on making their handhelds better and more mainstream then they can really help bring them back to life and more relevant to the gaming community.
ReplyDeleteHassaan Muhammad I don't really believe so. Handhelds had their time.
ReplyDeleteAs long as the big guys focus on making great games for the handhelds, I see them staying. At least, I still see a viable future for Nintendo's handhelds as they always do well. I think Sony is quitting after the Vita anyway
ReplyDeleteWTF handhelds are at their strongest year so far. A new 3DS can run Xenoblade Chronicles and that's a hugggee game and no lag at all. Phones are evolving yes but will they replace handheld? Oh hell no. The work and quality is much higher than stupid phone games. Handhelds won't die unless Pokemon dies but even then that won't happen in the near future.
ReplyDeleteThe handheld devices for video games are dying out.
ReplyDeleteIn a galaxy far far away there is a such thing as a Nintendo. What witchcraft!!!
There wilk be no more of them...just because tablets phones are taking over bruh
ReplyDeleteUnless the mobile phones are going to start coming out with joysticks, handheld gaming platforms will still have a place. I do appreciate what touch screens have given us, but there are plenty of people who still like the potential in the 3ds and Vita.
ReplyDeleteDidn't Sony say they won't make any more handhelds?
ReplyDeleteJacob Wheeler I think you can hook up a controller to mobile...
ReplyDeleteThe only way for handhelds to be saved is if they double as computers or phones.
ReplyDeleteNot in the near future, if ever. The 3DS and Vita have nothing to worry about, atm. Phones and Ipads will never have quality games that can compete with the gaming systems due to their pay to win style.
ReplyDeleteHandhelds are going to disappear, when your cellphone has just as much power, if not more power, you don't want it
ReplyDeleteLol them PlayStation portable is done. 3ds is actually doing really well. With emulators and things like the nivida shield phone mobile gaming is the future of mobile gaming.
ReplyDeleteowen west
ReplyDelete"mobile gaming is the future of mobile gaming" genius! Give this man a prize!
Only thing I liked about it was when I was younger I'd play Mariokart with 7 of my friends but I only played Mario kart 7 with 4-6 of my friends some people stopped after the 3ds like me
ReplyDeleteThey need to go
ReplyDeleteVITA VITA!!
ReplyDeleteFor me, I think they will become less popular, because while sure, they are better than mobile games, mobile has A LOT of games and even some ps2 games like GTA SA and Final fantasy, mobiles are more portable, you play more, have a wider selection of game genres, and there are way less reasons to leave them at home, android even has emulators for older consoles and support controllers.
ReplyDeleteAnd while I don't think they will die ( a lot of people are more "hardcore" than me and would still use them), I don't think that market will be very profitable in the future, but it's just my opinion.
Pepi Ipep XD oops.
ReplyDeleteSó eu que votei sem nem saber o que tá escrito? Kkkkkk
ReplyDeleteI love Handheld Gaming as much as I love Console Gaming...I think Handhelds will be out for a while, because you can have better quality games than on phones/tablets and plus, you can take Handhelds almost anywhere.^_^
ReplyDeleteThey are dying slowly, as smartphone gets powerful developers are targeting them instead of handheld as it more people to buy, they are definitely going to die
ReplyDeleteTwo great handhelds. We need them.
ReplyDeleteNintendo handhelds: Probably gonna stay.
ReplyDeleteSony handhelds: Uh.... (not a diss, just unsure what will happen)
Handhelds probably got better controls for gaming, otherwise could just play same games on phone. Definetely needed~Going To Vanish or so.
ReplyDeleteMike Vitti not for long, kids these days only want call of duty on xbox and ps4 they don't want Nintendo ds anymore
ReplyDeleteI think that the the smartphones will ruin it, but it sucks because most mobile games are shitty and are infested with micro-transactions. Real games are on dedicated gaming platforms.
ReplyDelete3DS could have a future but now that there are beast phones like the nexus phones and the LG phones and Motorola phones it doesn't need to have a future.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely here to stay. Everyone needs a gaming system for the go, and no, tablets don't count as gaming systems.
ReplyDeleteDishoungh White Tablets work for certain games, but it's terrible to use as a primary gaming system. Maybe to kill some time, but definitely not a worthy handheld replacement.
ReplyDeleteWhen have they ever been needed?
ReplyDeleteMitch L why doesn't a razerblade count?
ReplyDeleteThe Law Rocks idk what that is, but it sound gamer-y, so I'm sure it's fine.
ReplyDeleteMitch L it plays pc games and a lot of console games on a beast tablet and you can use a controller for it, search it on Google.
ReplyDeleteNaw, still got ma vita and ma 3ds and they aint going anywhere
