Do You Think Virtual Reality Will Have Any Major Impact On The Gaming Industry?(Gaming Community Poll #2)
Asking this question towards gamers of the community that probably have heard of Oculus Rift or many other manufacturers taking a shot at VR gaming entertainment this year. Do you see it becoming huge or do you simply see it as a limited fad like motion controls? Would love to know! #virtualreality

I can say from experience that it is something entirely new and is definitely the next big thing.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting it to be SAO-like VR so I can play games,inside it,and ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
ReplyDeleteGonna speak with my wallet and so NO, mostly because thenshits pretty expensive. Not many people will own one.
ReplyDeleteIt will make just about as big an impact as 3D tvs
ReplyDeleteMichael Acuna But when you think of it. Peolple don't actually buy a tv only for 3D, but mostly because the 3D tvs are also smart tvs. You have to pay extra to get a Blu-ray disc in 3D and almost everything else watchable isn't 3D. So...
ReplyDelete3D tvs aren't exactly popular.
Der Zocker-baum
ReplyDeleteExactly, the initial investment was/is too high and the available content is very low. Sounds exactly like VR (^o^)
Only if its affordable to the masses.
ReplyDeleteIt will revolutionize gaming but it would be too expensive to make an impact. Both games and the devices used to operate would be very costly.
ReplyDeleteI have a few ideas for FPS games. Some of the idiot developers make some funny mistakes.
ReplyDeleteI imagine it'll find it's niche, but I don't see a future of active or vr gaming, there are just too many gamers who game for a casual or social experience, something that's hard if you're wearing a headset our jumping about like a loon.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to getting one personally, but only when they come down to a reasonable price. As it stands, I'd rather upgrade my pc or get a ps than spend $600 on a novelty peripheral that I'll only use with several games.
It won't right now, the current prices are likely to offput a lot of people (Me included)
ReplyDeleteI'm not gonna dispute that VR isn't a great thing, but it's not cheap, that's for sure. Think it'll take a lot for the mainstream to accept it.
ReplyDeleteI had the oculus DK2 and the CV1 will be defo worth paying 600 for.
ReplyDeleteWoah
ReplyDeleteJust imagine having VR for shooters
ReplyDeleteThe Almighty Arceus i used it with cs and arma and its anoying.
ReplyDeleteVengeanceCore I mean there are people who wish shooters to be more in-depth. VR is one way to do that
ReplyDeleteThe Almighty Arceus ye, maybe if u had like a gun u hold and u stand up with the vr on. And have to controles on the gun. That might work.
ReplyDeleteThe Almighty Arceus

Michael Acuna That's exactly what I was talking about. I remember seeing that the other day and I just forgot the name.
ReplyDeleteVengeanceCore maybe if you have a lot of disposable income you could get your headset and this: http://www.thedeltasix.com/?gclid=CjwKEAiAt_K0BRCzjtv92_HGoR0SJAA9QNn_6fnDbsJFmditmmF6bl8jurXFDrnTpRtbE4ixH82l7BoCcijw_wcB
ReplyDeleteA small impact maybe but nothing big
ReplyDeleteBig, yes. Soon? Probably not. It's far too expensive for the average consumer at the time.
ReplyDeleteHello its 1995 calling to remind everyone that the Virtual Boy flopped and this will too.
ReplyDeleteAndy Herche Funny joke.
ReplyDeleteIt will once the prices drop and there are a few triple A games.
ReplyDeleteIt will have an impact but not yet...still way too early in development
ReplyDeleteEventually
ReplyDeleteBTW, you say "limited fad like motion controls". Virtual Reality is the natural evolution of motion controls. At its most basic VR is motion controls worn on your head. More immersive VR experiences also involve handheld motion controllers.
Also, 2 of the 3 major home consoles support motion controls in all models sold (3 of 3 if you count launch models). While game support for motion controls may be limited, motion controls haven't gone anywhere.
One of the big problems VR will face is the newness of VR. Developers struggled to design and develop games for motion controls. Right now (to my knowledge) everyone is focused on the hardware as opposed to the games coming out for that hardware.
I think it's a cool concept but I don't think it will stay relevant, just like 3d TVs I believe its a fad and with the lack of the games for it doubled with the high price and you need a very powerful gaming pc to even run the oculus rift or any other virtual reality helmet type device. I mean it's a really cool idea feeling like you're actually there but I can't see it staying with hardcore gamers.
ReplyDeleteI've already seen VR Porn unreal!
ReplyDeleteLegit Power now that would be awesome but only if it's 4d as in being able to feel it as well as feeling like you're there. Most likely that's what these virtual reality helmet devices are probably going to be primarily used for, hell I'll buy one just for that
ReplyDeletenot until they have 'full emersion' tech like in the anime sword art online IMO.....
ReplyDeleteNo simply because it won't be in most households and is too expensive. VR is useful for things like medical or combat practice but it won't be big in gaming
ReplyDeleteOculus is too expensive, but if psvr is around the same price as the ps4 or less it could be the next big thing. There are some really nice games that will support it.
ReplyDeleteIt won't make a difference in gaming for a while, but the concept of virtual reality has so much potential. Mostly in terms of prosthetics and orthotics. The idea of artificial or augmented body parts being controlled as naturally as a natural body part is amazing.
ReplyDeleteNot at first, still ahead of its time, we still can't figure out online gaming properly. But one day yes, it will be awesome
ReplyDeleteNo it won't. Let's face reality folks, the gaming companies will treat VR like a gimmick accessory to gaming, just like 3D but not as bad.
ReplyDeleteI think it'll end up being another Kinect.
ReplyDeleteLikewise, I go from my own experience and once you try it, you're blown away. However, prices will need to come down (they will), headsets need to be less dorky (they will in due time) and the content needs to get better (starting to happen). Some technical aspects need to be worked out such as spatial audio which is critical - Google is doing it for Cardboard and Oculus has demoed it. ReplyDeleteIt's the next Wii.
ReplyDeleteI don't see it going well.
ReplyDeleteMgs Vr training
ReplyDeleteyes it is
ReplyDeleteYes. I've been dreaming about this ever since I was a little kid. The fact that it's been adopted in so many different types of media, makes me believe that it's here to stay.
ReplyDeleteOh it most definitely be a big thing in years to come but I don't think the year of VR will be until around 2020 when we've had a couple more years of increases of power in terms of PCs and price drops on the units themselves. At the moment it's still a "Power user" or "Enthusiast" level.
