  1. I prefer phisical copies because I play offline. Phisical prevents me from having to go online to get my games downloaded and it also keeps the download times in xbox one to like 15 min instead of 15 hrs

  2. It also gives people a job, if there were no phisical copies, places like gamestop and replays would go out of business pretty quick

  3. I prefer physical because it means there's either a little or no wait time before you can actually play the game

  4. I sure hope not; because what will happen when the power goes out and the game you bought is erased so you'll have to buy it again. I don't know about you but I can't afford that.

  5. Its gonna save them a lotta money and in the same time its good for the people who get paid from the internet. I mean youll be payin money for them to make your internet faster so you can download these shits know im sayin

  6. At a point games will become simply to large and too intense for current moving parts to handle. Who knows exactly what'll happen, but I vote for digital for sure.

  7. I don't think its gonna happen..Why?? Because it's a bad business move in my opinion. There is a way that you can share your downloaded games with other players with the same console. You can download your profile to their console and every Six months you have the opportunity to share games...With Anybody!

  8. I think gaming largely shall head to VR I believe the age of consoles is almost done

  9. If I were able to get physical games for the price of digital ones, and without having to drive hours to the nearest shop that sells the low-budegt indie game I'd like, then I would love to use Physical discs. Neither of these are true however, and as such, digital distribution, eventually will take over. It's cheaper not to make the discs or stock it in stores, and more convient for the consumer to be able to buy it from home. I don't like that fact that my games are dependent on a company or service, however, its better that then having to pay 4 times the price after drive for an hour to get the game.

  10. Sam Littlefield VR is of course going to be digital and is very expiermental. The age of consoles is strong sales exist to show that man. Imo physical copies are still needed for a lot of people, especially people like me with shitty old DSL.

  11. I hope not. .  but I'm sure there will be as technology progresses.
Plus they would be able to implement DRM monitoring more easily and efficiently.
    I prefer physical, though.

  12. Muhd Nurhaikal Lol, right what a Casual comment. I'm guessing zero experience with ANY downloadable games

  13. I think there gunna come up with a new way of releasing games...there gunna blow everyones minds

    ReplyDelete
  14. No because you can't sell them or trade them in

  15. Oh boy time to play my physical copy of-Oh. Wait. That one won't read. What about-No. That one always freezes on that one part. What about- Where is it? I swear it was in this case. Now I can't find it. I can always preorder the new-No. The line is already massive and they're definitely gonna run out when I get there.
    walks away sad

Why I plan to buy as few physical copies for future games as possible.

  16. It'll definitely be more popular as time and tech progresses but i dont see physical copies going away. Maybe less made but still around

    ReplyDelete
  17. I sure hope not. That's what companies want to kill off the used games market. Physical all the way!

  18. Exponaut R-01 Not being able to take care of your stuff and buying games on day one?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Elah Price It happens eventually. Day One? It's probably worse. A hyped enough game isn't just gonna be on the shelf.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I hate to admit it but, yes eventually digital will take over physical....as technology grows things become obsolete (like cds roms)....it's pretty much going to happen....Customers can fight it, but it's just delaying the inevitable

    ReplyDelete
  21. Exponaut R-01
Sure those are some cons, but if you take good care of your disks that doesn't happen. As for the line thing. . I have the opposite problem. As a Wii U owner, the issue is finding a store that carries the game at all XD

But for a popular game you'll be able to get it one way or the other. I personally also like having something physical of the game, it's probably more sentimental or something, but should ever the need arise it's good to have the option to sell a game (Which I basically never have to any I've owned over the years, but still a good option)

For going completely digital just make sure they keep a record of all your digital purchases  so you can download them again should an issue arise. (Which I'm positive all providers do, but, I haven't used any myself)
Also be open to spending 80-100 bucks if you need to plug in via USB an additional hard drive over time. (At that price range you can actually get 2-3TB now. There's even some 1TB ones for 50.)

  22. There is literally no point of owning physical games this generation now that you need to install them on either current gen system. The biggest advantage consoles had with physical copies is that you just pop it in and play. You pop it in and wait now. So what's the point? May as well wait awhile longer and just download.

  23. As technology advances disks like DVDs and Bluray are becoming more and more obsolete, being replaced by newer technologies. Think about it. Way back before many of us were born, consoles only stored one game, and if you wanted to play a different game, you'd need a whole new console. That was replaced by cartridges, which were used for years to play different games with one console, until CDs replaced it. Now, games that are gigabytes in size, Team Fortress 2 or Star Trek Online for example, can be downloaded off the internet. Eventually there will be something to replace the Internet as a medium of game sharing, just as floppy disks and cartridges are LONG obsolete technologies today

  24. It won't happen. There are many collectors and preservers out there (including myself). Of course maybe optical discs will be replaced by flash drives or something else but there will be some kind of physical release. As long as the industry gets paid for physical, it won't die.

  25. HollowGrapeJ (Da Ji- Superior, Smarter, And More Fabulous Than Humanity Itself) Literally no point? Did you think about it for more than half a second?
You can keep, collect, preserve your games. You can resell or trade them. And don't forget that there are many people on this planet who can't download a 50GB game because of their shitty or non existant internet connection. Remember what happened to P.T.? Imagine we had no retro games anymore because they were "digital only" back then.

Yes, right now you might not be concerned but our present will be the past eventually. Services will be offline and games will be removed from online stores due to arguments over IPs, licenses etc. This happens all the time. We need to have physical games!

    ReplyDelete
  26. to much MG,GB,TB if you know what i meantime I am a gamer and i need at least a terabit and external hard drive if it all goes digital.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Being digitally download will take up space and will cost the same 60 USD even after 3 months of the game released. Also have to wait for the video game to download which probably take a good day or so depending on the game but I hope that changes if it becomes only digital download.

    ReplyDelete
  28. if it was digital there would be lest Gamers 9

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well I had like over 100 CD games and some went bad scratch or faded spots lost lats of money, so I just got steam no cd the only one I got is serious Sam and it's because I got to put cd to play it so I got like 5 copys

  30. The only thing that bothers me with digital only is the prices we get charged on the store. Last time I checked (2 weeks ago), PlayStation Store had FIFA 15 at £54.99. Not only does that equate to more than $60, which is the regular American price, but it had been outdated by FIFA 16 for three months at the time of checking.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Yes. It's more convenient and the internet is getting better all the time so it'll be able to accommodate it better

    ReplyDelete
  32. On PC, it's all digital so I'm not bothered. For some reason, though, I prefer disks for my consoles. Online store prices for digital downloads on PS4 and XBOX One are a rip-off.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I personally just like to have a physical collection to look at. I like the feeling that even in 10 years I can pop an old game in (provided the system still works) and just play. It's part of the gaming experience to me. Sure you could potentially redownload the game if you don't have it anymore, but what happens in a decade or more when the system isn't supported anymore and the new ps5 or ps6 or whatever isn't backwards compatible?

That's my opinion, but I do think that eventually it will go all digital, Just not for quite awhile.

  34. Jacob Jones so what about the updates

    ReplyDelete
  35. No. Digital downloads for larger games like SOM or battlefield can take up to an hour, 50gbs of data takes quite a while to load.

Disks also offer faster load times as the ps4 will read game data from the harddrive and the disk at the same time. The disk will have 30% faster loading than downloads.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Doesn't matter, as long as I still can play the game.

    ReplyDelete
  37. michael lynch usually doesn't bother me for not having updates. I usually don't have problems with my games

    ReplyDelete
  38. Some people just like the disks (like me) + you can play them at a friends house, of you bring it with you, can't do that with digital

    ReplyDelete
  39. Jacob Jones you crying over a piece of plastic. As long as you are playing games why cry if they are digitally imported. Plus it beats corporate greed like gamestop, and you will never lose your games. I got tons of games downloaded on wiiu , and I don't have to be online all the time.

    ReplyDelete
  40. eRzwo Dezwo It doesn't matter because games from Ubisoft and EA for example incorporate DRM. If something happens to those games, they're gonna get removed and you cannot play them even with a disk. Like Titanfall and Destiny.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Of course it is. Eventually everyone will have decent Internet.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Ignition Gaming on Xbox one a game installed on a hdd will load up faster and have faster load times in games like fallout 4.

    ReplyDelete
  43. owen west please don't bring up xbox one to represent console. Ps4 sold 27 million more units (3x) xbox.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Ignition Gaming It's over 30M now I think.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ignition Gaming lol what are you serious? How big of a fanboy are you? I'm at a lose of words right now. With a expanded hdd on the ps4 the load times aren't faster you dumbass. Also who cares? Ps4 doesn't represent console. That's not how it works. I'm at a total lose for words right now. People like you are the Cancer of video game fans. Xbox one doesn't need to outsell ps4 because its already selling more then the 360 did at this time. Microsoft doesn't make profit from console's they make profit from gold subscribers. There are over 37 million gold subscribers. That's where they make profit. I swear people like you annoy the shit out of me.

    ReplyDelete
  46. owen west Games used to load faster when installed on the Xbox 360 too.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm a collector type and there are many others like me, so I don't think so!

    ReplyDelete
  48. owen west Xbox Fanboy Detected!
Microsoft is losing on this gen, this is factual Bro!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Henrique Oliveira lol I own a ps4 and I love it. Your another one of those people aren't you.

    ReplyDelete
  50. owen west No, I'm not!
But that PS4 is absolutely winning this gen, this is factual!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Henrique Oliveira It's winning in sales. But that doesn't matter. Some prefer Xbox still. It's a matter of opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  52. owen west You just love starting arguments dont you.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Henrique Oliveira nope the 3ds is outselling that shit big time

    ReplyDelete
  54. Henrique Oliveira you are a Sony fanboy , but the 3ds is dusting that shit

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ignition Gaming lol because I was totally the one who started anything.

    ReplyDelete
  56. At least online purchases will be our only option on Puerto Rico after march 30. Every gamestop store will leave. O.o

    ReplyDelete
  57. owen west 3ds is outselling everything anyway. So you can't say shit.

    ReplyDelete
  58. It needs to happen but I also hope they make it as cheap as steam games.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The Law Rocks Steam makes their games cheap because the game developers allows them to. The devs know that after initial sells, they need to drop the price on PC or it will just be pirated. It's much more difficult to pirate onto console so they delay dropping prices.

Consoles are also far too slow to rely on network installs. The wifi chip on the playstation 4 is complete shit and xBox's is bad but usable.
The PS4 maxes out at 3mb/s (right against a gigabit router on a 500mb/s line). That means it would take several hours to download a full game. At this rate, everytime i buy a game online, i need to connect my ps4 to ethernet so it finishes in a reasonable amount of time (15 minutes for Gta V, 10 minutes for Bo3).

    ReplyDelete
  60. Ignition Gaming true, but I also think the companies who allow the games on their console make it more expensive so they get a better or even cut.

    ReplyDelete
  61. The Law Rocks That's because it costs much much more expensive to develop games for console. The programming languages and calling strings used on consoles are... retarded, and Sony takes a large premium on every unit sold (I believe it's at 25% right now, while steam takes 5%).

    ReplyDelete
  62. michael lynch 3ds is not even new, and it's not even a console, shut up Bro!
Stay with your poor 3DS Piece of shit playing kids games and Mario!
    Hahaha

    ReplyDelete
  63. Henrique Oliveira says the fucking console user calling others poor.... Since when was that even an insult?

I would say pc masterrace but I dont own a pc.
    2 servers and 1 macbook.

  64. Henrique Oliveira shut up dude, 3ds has great games.
