  1. With solid state media becoming so large, fast, and cheap, we may in the future see Nintendo go back to cartridges. Wouldn't that be something?

  2. Cartridges are exspensive so for something like Wii U it's definitely better to use disks but for handhelds it's fine since they're smaller.

  3. Cartridges are better because they don't require you to save data on the system, since the files are stored on the cartridge!

  4. luigi EXE The alternative being your console breaks and you lose the save data on several games....

Of course, a back-up cloud save would be available.

  6. Just like the Playstation's controller. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

  7. The price per gigabyte for RAM is less than $5 right now and for SSDs, it's less than 50¢. Still much more expensive than a DVD (I'm guessing less than $1 to press one), but if prices for flash storage keep falling this rapidly, we may see 2 TB SSDs for $100 in two or three years, so 10 - 20 GB cartridges should be dirt cheap. Would be kinda awesome to have the cartridge return.

  8. The only bad thing with cartridges is the dust that gets inside but you can just press B to blow it all out,

Discs on the other hand? Easily lost, can be scratched, can break easily etc.

  11. luigi EXE Sure, but just five years ago, a 120 GB over cost as much as a 500 GB one does today.

  13. A post that mentions the name of a videogame company that doesn't have any hate comments? Sweet!
Cartridges are pretty cool, but I only see them being practical for handhelds.

  14. Matt Ross playstation controller was badly broke though and they did fix it for ps4.

  15. Gabriel Comsa Wth do cartridges have to do with DRM?

  16. Then why does Wii u have discs boom

  17. Dallas TX Because discs are still much cheaper as of now.

  18. Lee Fear It was great. Ps1,2, and 3 were all fine.

  19. Dallas TX
Because disks are cheaper, have more memory and are easier to make games on

  20. Matt Ross no they were not. It was never designed to have analog sticks. They simply took the standard digital pad that originally released with the Playstation and stuck two analog sticks on it. The dimensions did not change which meant that they were in less than ideal positions. This made the pad cramped. They then for some reason never changed the base design..... The ps4 pad is finally designed to actually have analog sticks and feels brilliant.

  21. Lee Fear I have always found them comfortable.

I disagree the sticks on the ps 1-3 all work and play great, yes the PS4 feels much better, but not because of the placement of the sticks. It's because it's more form fitting and comfortable for most people.

  23. Esteban Ruiz now that i think of it where IS it?

  24. conner potter erm you have just contradicted yourself. Yes the stick placement was the issue as they were place to close together and the rest of the pad was too cramped. It was designed as a digital pad without the sticks and was great in this respect. However they then simply jerry rigged a couple of stick onto this pad and left it at that.... the initial analog pad was larger but was effectively just scaled up a bit which made it equally uncomfortable so they went back to the original size for the dual shock 1. It was not until the ps4 pad that they have actually designed the pad to be an analog pad and it shows in how comfortable the ps4 pad is. You will notice that the sticks on the ps4 pad are further apart from each other and also placed further from the outside of the grips. This means the thumbs now fall naturally onto the sticks rather than having to do hand gymnastics to work them.....

  25. Well thats one of the things that has held back Nintendo. For portable things is fine because they don't get scratch and probably a bit more memory than say a UMD. But the N64 got held back compared to the CD based ps one

How did i contradict myself? Also if you look at the 2 controllers the distance between the sticks is the same. I love the feel of the PS4 controller but the PS Legacy controller feels just as good in my opinion. And stick placement has nothing to do with it. You want wonkey stick placement look at the xbox controllers. Sure it works but it's weird :/

  27. conner potter the contradiction was that you fully admitted that the controller did not suit everyone at all. And then said that the ps4 pad feels better as the spacing is better (which was the issue on the old pads). And no they are not the same distance apart. The new pad is much larger (the same size as the xbox one pad) and the geometry has been adjusted quite a lot). No matter what you think though it is undeniable that the other dual shocks had never been designed to have analog sticks which is dumb.

  28. Jose Palomino I agree. For handheld the carts are a great idea as optical media need a lot of tech to prevent the disks skipping. But yes the n64 was held back by the cartridge even though it did have the advantage of much quicker load times.

  29. There is something that feels so good about holding a cart. It's tangible, for some reason, to me when I hold a disk it doesn't feel tangible. I know it's all just 1's and 0's either way, but dang it feels good to plug a large cart into a console.
