Google+ Site Recording April 1st 2019, A Day Before It Died (No Longer Private Video)

 

This is a quick recording of the Google+ home feed a day before the site finally shut down. Mostly people sasying goodbye to each other and some still posting normally despite knowing the death of the site was upon them. Understandably plently of people have already uploaded YouTube video recordings of the site, but I went ahead and added my own here anyways for my own archival purposes.

The Awful Behind The Scenes System of Google+ (By A Google+ Community Moderator)

Before I begin, I moderated 3-5 communities on Google+ 2011-2019, I spent time moderating communities with over 1 Million plus users and had a lot of direct connection with site moderators as well for assistance. The way Google+ handles spam and bots was pretty awful because it always affected normal users of the platform, if a user post a duplicate post or posted too soon in a time span it would flag the users post to an inbox for review, the issue is that it flagged users who posted a lot of content and not users who were bots. So you’d have a user with 10 thousand follower user complaining his post was hidden. The system works by flagging the entire users account making it invisible until the user stops posting for a set amount of time, people would have to wait 2 days or comment on a lot of post to eliminate the flagging. Google thought this system would stop spam, but nope SEO PC software was manipulated to create users (reported and ignored by the Google+ team in 2016) that had AI like human users beating the method. This allowed them to post content that was riddles with malware and ip loggers. Spam inboxes jumped from 7 spam post to 7000 spam post in a years time. All I was able to do was watch large users accounts become abandoned since we could not assist then, communicating with the Google team was awful and yes the security issues started to show as google would start slowly moving employees away from G+ to the YouTube team.

Very Sad Setback For My Blog, But I'm Not Done Yet!

Photos Are Now Gone Despite Recovering Files From Backup XML

          Google is still deleting photo content from Google+. I had a backup blog and noticed all the linked post started dissapearing meaning sometimes this month they started deleting peoples images off of Google Photos that were from Google+ WITHOUT my permission tbh. Basiaclly back-up content associated with G+ is also deleted as well. I seriously will be asking for a responce from  Alois Bělaška about the expiring photos. Sadly for now they are all missing. I'm not giving up though, I have videos to share!

The Old Site Mascot Jingles (Small Story)

So yeah back when the site was still growing the mascot was found int he notifications area of Google+, it was an adorable little bell with a cartoon smile and even changed its appearance during cetian seasons like in the image off to the left.

The Older and More Refined Version Of Google+ Profiles

I seriously dont understand why Google ruined profiles, you had so much you could do with the old UI, you could see your total views on your profile, Google reviews and even chat with friends on Google Hangouts (a feature later ripped off the site) and even an about page that allowed you to express yourself a bit more without restrictions of an over simplified UI introduced a couple years back, they also went ahead and removed the meme maker, gif creation tool and photo editor (thanks to Google Photos) later on as well, this was a very bad move and thus is why most of the time I had to edit a pic outside of the site. Whats even stranger is that I remember multiple site members inviting mods to the beta of the new UI and alot of site mods including myself opted agianst the use of a large majority of the UI changes while some just liked the way it looked but not its functionality. When normal users were able to use it they mostly used "Classic Mode" to use the old UI agian until Google removed that option completely. Once agian this was a very bad move of the Google+ team What a shame!

Google+ Communities I Loved!

Very, very sad to not be able to visit my favorite Google+ communities anymore.These "communities"acted very simular to Facebook Groups as they were small but large (oxymoron) pages full of Google+ users somewhat privately sharing there content. I really enjoyed posting in Funny Memes towards the end of the sites run, I made so many friends on that community as well as online friends ive known on Gaming as well. Most of these users migrated to the Gaming page found on MeWe, wanna check it out the links in previous post below. I liked Minecraft a long time ago but once ina  while some creations looked pretty dope and funny technology is a witty humor filled community as well.Ah yes, I will miss the users and there content on this site very much.

Communities I Moderated On Google+

Most of the communities I was in were very fun to be apart of for most of the years I was on Google+ were amazing experiences! More over I found so many people with simular interest and it was extrememly fun! These two communities are the main places I spent moderating and building up from 2015-2019. With the help of various other moderation friends online we grew these communities into massive hits on the site! I mostly sorta took over Gaming overtime and promoted the living hell out of it as a result. There was an owner but I sorta was one as well because throughout alot of the sites history I hosted paid art contest, going to the 2017 Game Awards and even designing the banner that would be famous with the communities name, "Gaming".
